Wirt Dexter of Chicago History Fame

I am searching for information about WIRT DEXTER, who was a business associate of a distant uncle of mine, JAMES MONROE WALKER.

Dexter was one of the leading men in Chicago following the Chicago Fire, and was the head of the rebuilding effort. There is a Wirt Dexter Building in Chicago, etc.

My distant uncle was a business partner of Wirt, (he named one of son's Wirt Dexter Walker!), so we can assume they were close.

Anything on Wirt is appreciated.
