Hey Richard, I understand where you are coming from. Both my great grandma and her husband are De Wolfe's from Nova Scotia and I too am trying to understand how that worked. From what I know, my great-grandma's last name was Le Loup before she was forced to anglicize it. So I'm more curious as to whether there were Le Loups and De Wolfes and then when Le Loup was changed it became a bunch of De Wolfes. Just another angle on this question. Hope you find your answers!
