Isaac and Abigail De Witt of the Sufferers Land of Ohio
I have posted a review of "History of the Fire-Lands," published in 1879 by WW Williams on the "Firelands History Website": http://firelands.wordpress.comhttp://firelands.wordpress.com.
Included in this book is a biography of Isaac De Witt, born in 1833 and resident of Fairfield Township of the Firelands of Northwestern Ohio. Also included in the book is an illustration of his residence and portraits of him and his wife, Abigail (nee Morse) De Witt.
The Firelands, or Sufferers' Land, was set aside for "Sufferers" in Connecticut whose homes were burned by the British during the American Revolution. It includes present day Huron, Erie, Ottawa, and Ashland Counties in Ohio.
My post includes a short synopsis of "History of the Fire-Lands" and the Table of Contents with links to the free on-line book's histories, biographies and illustrations of the pioneers and their families.
I invite you to check out this interesting biography of Isaac and Abigail De Witt and other pioneers of the Firelands.
