I found Caroline with her parents Barnet DeWitt and Sarah Curran in the 1850 census. Her parents were married Aug 6, 1829 in Perry Co, Ohio according to Family Search. Caroline and her family were in Wayne Twp in Hamilton Co, IN in that census along with her sisters Harriet, Margaret Ann, Elizabeth, and Jerima, all being born in Ohio. Her one brother Samuel L. was the youngest being born in Ohio in 1845. Barnet was born in Virginia and Sarah in PA. Barnet was also listed in the 1840 census in Clayton Twp, in Perry Co, Ohio with 5 girls. Based on all their ages, looks like they moved to Wayne Twp between 1840 and 1844.
Also in the 1850 census in Wayne Twp living right next to Barnet was Spencer DeWitt, born in Va and Lucinda, born in Ohio with 5 children. I found their marriage in Family Search also being married Oct 25, 1832 in Clark Co, Ohio. Spencer must have still been with his parents in the 1840 census, no DeWitt's in Clark Co in the 1840 census. But there were 4 DeWitt's close by in Fayette Co in 1840. These 4 were sons of Peter DeWitt and Jane Bray, Jane died there in Fayette Co. Peter was the son of Paulus DeWitt and Catherine Depuy. Paulus and Catherine and their 9 sons and 1 daughter moved to Hampshire Co, Va in 1765. Some of the boys scattered into Kentucky, Perry Co, IN, and Guernsey and Butler Co, Ohio that we know of.
I also found Barnet DeWitt in Ancestry.com listed with Caroline and her siblings, but no parents for him. And Spencer is listed there also as a brother of Barnet.
