The December 2007 issue of MAINE ANTIQUE DIGEST on p. 3-D pictures a portrait c. 1862-63 of Sarah King Dewey and her daughter Harriet by the 19th century NY folk artist Ammi Phillips. The painting recently (2007) was sold at auction by Sotheby's in New York. While the painting as pictured in the magazine is in black & white only and printed on newsprint, it might be possible to purchase a photo of the painting in color from the auction house for a fee. I have scanned the black and white picture of the portrait as it appears in the magazine and would be happy to email it to Dewey family researchers. Someone in the family ought to have it-- the painting is too fine to be missed by the family. If it were a portrait of a Pease family, I would certainly hope that someone would do the same for me.
