Hi, Wendy:

The line going back from Horatio8 Dewell is:

Nathan7 Deuel (1788-1830) of Mexico and Granville, Washington Co., NY m. Sarah Whitney (this Whitney line has substantial English nobility ancestry)

Ezra6 Deuel (1766-1844) of Granville m. Deborah Stark (she was related to the Starks who was prominent in the Revolution)

William5 Deuel (1728-1814) of Granville and Dartmouth, Bristol Co., MA m. Mehitable Whitehead

William4 Devol of Dartmouth m. Elizabeth Whitehead

Jonathan3 Devol (d.1709) of Dartmouth m. Hannah ---

Jonathan2 Devol of Newport, RI and Dartmouth m. Hannah Audley (If Hannah Audley was the granddaughter of Rev. Obediah Holmes of Newport, as she appears to be to me, then descendants of this line are distant cousins of Abraham Lincoln, since Holmes would be a common ancestor)

William1 Devol of Duxbury, MA (then part of Plymouth Colony) (c1640), Rehoboth, MA (c1645), Newport, Dartmouth and possibly Little Compton, RI. It is doubtful that he is, as frequently asserted, the same William Devol who lived in Spaulding, Lincolnshire before emigrating to America.
