Dear Alasdair,

Here is what I know about my earliest Dewar ancestors. Angus Murdoch Dewar was born in Galder, Glenelg, Inverness, Scotland around 1771. It is believed that Angus was a blacksmith in Galder, although he never practiced as a blacksmith in Canada. He married Mary Kate Campbell, from Glenelg. We think she was born about 1779. I have no date for their marriage. They came to Canada in 1818 and settled in Lochiel, Ontario. The approximate dates of their birth are based on the age given on census records. Angus died between 1852 and 1860 as he appears on the 1851 census and not on the 1861. Mary died between 1862 and 1870, based on the same reasoning. Both are buried at St. Columba's Cemetery in Kirk Hill, Ontario. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Wendy
