I am a descendant of Johannes Klase, who settled near the DeWalt residence in the early 1750's. Johannes son, Valentine, lived in and died just above Bethlehem, near Hecktown, and is buried at the Dryland church there. Valentine married Mary Eva Schmidt, b. Oct. 1, 1766. His parents, Johannes and Catherine were sponsors for the births of Magdelene, b. 1788 dau. of John and Anna Maria Schmidt and Abraham Schmidt and Christina Klase were sponsors to the 1790 bp. of a child of John Schmidt and wife Anna Maria. I think I remember a Klase marrying a DeWalt at some point, but I am not certain of this. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the parents of M. BARBARA SCHMIDT, Michael DeWalt's wife. Valentine and his wife Mary Eva Schmidt had a son named Michael. Their other children's names were: Jacob, Abraham, Valentine Jr., Henry, Mary Eva and Catherine, all born in Bethlehem, (Hecktown). I feel there may be a strong connection between M. Barbara Schmidt and my Mary Eva Schmidt. The name Klase has been variously written as Close, Clouse, Klose etc. Judy
