Let's see...They married in 1875 and had children: Alice / Ella, b. abt 1877 Cornelius, b. abt 1879 George, b. abt 1881 Effie, b. abt 1884 Gertrude, b. abt 1887 I also see Edward, b. 17 Nov 1887 to "Jacob & Eliza"--not listed in 1900. Do you think that's the same couple? One census says they were both from Friesland, and you have GR for Elizabeth. It's likely they lived right on the border of the two provinces. Cornelius and Effie were named for Elizabeth's parents, Kornelis and Aafke. So George and Alice--like you said--for Jacob's parents is probably right. George wouldn't be the Dutch name of Jacob's father but a name he called him here because his Dutch name would have been unfamiliar to American ears. I've seen Gosse, Sjoerd, Tjeerd--to name the ones that come to mind--Americanized as George. I see a very good possibility, but let me look into it a little more.
