I have talked to a coworker with the last name Fisher. He told me his name was 'Americanized' When his Grandfather came to America from Ukrain in 1913. Ellis Island officials would tell people how to spell there last name in America. Depending on how they spelled it in there country. I have also seen where some School Teacher's have told there students how they are to spell there last names. How Nice of them...
