Thank you so much for this info - I have just begun my search for my grandgather's birth family in Holland - Friesland. He was the only family member to emigrate to the USA. His name was Nicholas de Vries, born Dec. 4, 1875 or 1876. He and his father had a fight - my grandfather jumped off the canal boat and came to America in 1892. He ended up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and married Anna Rawierda. Together they had seven children, including my father Donald De Vries. If you can help me any further please write.
