My dear cousin,
Please forgive my delay in responding. I only just this morning found your reply. It grieves me, as I have been waiting so very long to find someone on my Grandmother's side of the family with whom to be in contact.
I knew your grandfather Sijbren and your grandmother Elisabeth Woudstra when I was a small boy. They came to the US to visit their son Joe de Vries in Chicago, my grandmother, and us. They stayed with us and we drove them to Michigan and to Chicago to visit the others. I have pictures of them even now.
I would so love to correspond with you. In April, I for the first time visited Friesland and stayed with my grandfather's family. It was an amazing visit, but I wished the entire time that I knew my grandmother's family as well. My aunt and I used to correspond with
Douwe de Vries, but I believe he died probably 15 years ago or so.
