I'm a direct line from Rev. Ebenezer Devotion,b.abt.1712, d.July 16, 1771, first pastor of Scotland Parish Church, Windham County, CT. Just today, there was a posting on the Waldo Family Forum, offering info on the Devotion line. Check it out- your Edward is likely to be related to my Ebenezer.
My mother has always said, also, that the Devotions were Hugonots from France. Her gr gr grandmother was Eunice Devotion (Waldo)(b.1770).
