The Mann book, while interesting and valuable, contains errors and omissions. The book seemed to be compiled from the research of different DeVore family groups. If your group wasn't represented by a researcher, your DeVore family won't be included. Further, it seems to me that family groups should have common links, but the book doesn't make those linkages. Perhaps the time is so distant (1500/1600) that good records just aren't available. My DeVore group had a chapter, but I don't know any of those who did the research and some of the research is incorrect, or at least differs with what I was given by relatives. Some people post here asking questions about their DeVore ancestors and I have tried to do look-ups for them, but not often with any success. The Mann book is a good place to begin asking questions and provides some "color" in the way of historical context to what can be rather dry research. Just my thoughts...
