Hi,

I'm looking for information on James Lewis DeVore or (DeVora) of Oakwood, Illinois. He would have been around 10 years old in 1904. One of my relatives has a copy of a letter that he wrote on October 31, 1904, addressed to "Dear Aunt." It was sent to Lydia Viola Sanders Miller Gorman McFarlen, of Little River County, Arkansas. The letter was written to show off his skills in "vertical" writing, which is how I'm estimating his age.

Lydia Sanders had previously lived near Oakwood, moving with her family to Arkansas around 1881 or so. Her husband-to-be, Albert Miller, wrote to her from Ogden, IL, in 1882, just before he left to join her in Arkansas. They were married a couple of months later.

I am trying to trace James Lewis DeVore's parents, to find out their relationship to Lydia or Albert.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
