I either lost the message I was writing or sent before complete so I will continue with Silas info where I left off and if I don't see it posted will reenter info I have.
Siilas was married to Mary Ann Genung of Steuben Co NY. From that marriage came Volney, Ephraim and Louisa who was born in 1832, the year of her mother's death.
Silas then married Fanny in Steuben Co, NY. She was born Feb. 3, 1809 near Howard, NY. She was the daughter of Luke voorhees and Mary Petee or Petty. She died 1846. Of that marriage came Cyrus Farris, Robert, Marion, Luke, Martin Van Buren, Sarah and George.
Silas then married Sarah Susannah Sutton Dec. 25, 1851. From that marriage came John T., Eva L., Edward, Charles H., and Arthur.
I was told by my mother that our DeVores were French Huguenots.
Does anyone out there know who Silas's father and mother were?
Also, Rodney DeVore, the present DeVore patriarch, has said that Silas was a barn Builder. At the period of time, barn builders would be hired and would live with the owners until the barn was finished and then would move on to the next. That might explain how he got from Watertown NY to Meadville, PA.
