Dear Richard :

I have suspected for some time that Nancy Devol Smith was a possible/probable daughter of Elijah & Judith Davenport Devol. What stumps me, however, is how to prove this hypothesis given that their mariage was no doubt in a Baptist church and I am told that Baptists did not keep official marriage records.

Thank you very much for answering my query and for providing additional background information on this family. I do appreciate it.
