Gus and Susannah were my gg-grandparents. His full information is:
John Augustus (Gus) DeVoe, b. 14 Mar 1833 in (probably Harford Co.) Maryland, d. 9 Dec 1917 in Monroe Co., Ohio. His marriage to Susannah Allen (daughter of Francis Allen and Martha Jane Kyser) took place 22 Apr 1858 in Monroe Co., Ohio. (You have the dates correct, I'm just fleshing out the locations.) Gus and Ann (his pet name for Susannah) are buried in Bracken Cemetery at Bracken United Methodist Church in Lewisville, Summit Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio.
Gus' parents were Joseph Oliver DeVoe and Eliza Clarisa Green. Joseph was born 20 Feb 1802 in Harford Co., Maryland and died 23 May 1872 in Monroe Co., Ohio. He is buried up at the Swazey Chapel Cemetery in Franklin Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio. (Don't expect to get up there at the moment without climbing equipment and a machete, as the cemetery is at the top of a very steep hill and is completely overgrown. The old church building has completely fallen into ruin. I do have some photos of the headstone, taken there about 25 years ago.) Eliza Clarisa Green DeVoe was born 28 Feb 1807 in Harford Co., Maryland and died 25 May 1894 in Monroe Co., Ohio. She is also buried at Swazey. Joseph and Clarisa were married 10 Feb 1830 in Harford Co., Maryland.
Clarisa's parents are currently a mystery, although I believe it is possible that she was a sister of Benjamin Green of Harford Co., MD. I'm still looking into this.
Joseph's parents were John DeVoe (1774 - 1865) and Ann Jenkins (1776 - ca. 1855); John and Ann were married in 1795 in Harford Co., Maryland. Another researcher was kind enough to look up John's will in the Maryland archives and send me a copy. If you are interested in Gus' father's siblings as well as Gus' own siblings, I can e-mail you a copy of my transcription of the will.

2. John Augustus DeVoe, b. 14 Mar 1833 in (prob. Harford Co.) Maryland; d. 09 Dec 1917 in Monroe Co., Ohio.
3. Mary Ellen DeVoe, b. 27 Apr 1836 in St. Clairsville, Belmont Co., Ohio; d. 4 Jul 1891 in Middlebury Twp., Knox Co., Ohio.
4. Thomas Alexander DeVoe, b. 16 Jan 1839 in Belmont Co., Ohio; d. 25 May 1922 in Franklin Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio
5. Alfred Reynold (Reyn) DeVoe, b. 25 Sep 1841 in Belmont Co., Ohio; d. 1919 in Monroe Co., Ohio.
6. Martha Jane DeVoe, b. 12 Nov 1843 in Scotch Ridge, Belmont Co., Ohio; d. 28 Aug 1936 in Lewisville, Summit Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio
7. Clarissa (Clara) Ann DeVoe, b. 02 Nov 1846 in Monroe Co., Ohio; d. 05 Jun 1905 in Morgan Co., Ohio
8. Joseph O. DeVoe II, b. 03 Oct 1849 in Monroe Co., Ohio; d. 13 Mar 1887 in Ohio.
9. William Russell DeVoe, b. ca 1851; d. young
10. James DeVoe, b. ca 1853; d. young
Of these children, Ben married Sarah J. (I don't have her maiden name) and had 9 children; Gus married Susannah Allen and had 8 children; Mary Ellen married James Allen (brother of Gus' wife Susannah) and had 4 daughters; Thomas married Sabrina Jane Wise and had 6 children; Reyn never married; Martha married John W. Robinson and had 7 children; Clara married Lewis Dearth and had 7 children; Joseph II married Debby (I don't have her maiden name either) and had 1 daughter; and William and James did not live to adulthood. I won't name all the offspring listed here, but will share their names and info if you are interested.
Are you a descendant of Gus and Susannah or of one of their siblings? I have additional info which I'd be happy to share and I would be interested in learning what you know about the family, too. Hope to hear from you soon!
