First effort to trace genealogy of James Devlin, my grandfather, who, I believe, arrived in US in 1870's. He had at least two brothers in US: Charles, who had one son, also Charles, who was a merchant marine officer before and during WWII; and another brother, Daniel, who served in the U.S. Navy and retired, I understand, to Ireland. James Devlin's first wife died; they had one child, Mary.He married Sarah Porter who was born in Scotland. They had three children: James B.1901 (my father), Margaret and John. James/Sarah lived in Brooklyn and Freeport, NY. I have information re my first cousins & their families. Seek info re Grandfather's brothers, parents, cousins.
