:Your confusion is understandable. There are 21 ways of spelling Devlin in Irish and 30 in English. But Devlin, Develin, Develyn,
etc. are all the same name. As for Joseph Chubbs book: It was reprinted several times; the first printing was in Lynchburg, Va in 1937 and the last (that I know of) was in Philadelphia in 1951. Joseph Chubb Develin lived at 7017 McCallum St. Philadelphia at the time. Each re-print had a little more information and corrections to some of the original text, but all in all they are pretty much the same.
