Patrick: I sent a reply to your later post about Devlins in N. Dakota, and found this one later on. My father and I are convinced that your Devlins are the same as mine. . .I'll explain. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was Francis Devlin, married to Elizabeth McLaughlin, who had (at least) two sons, Francis (Frank Jr.) and Henry. My Great-Great Grandfather was Henry (Wee Harry) Devlin, who was married to Anna, a Murray from Newton, Ireland. Anna ran a boarding house, and "Wee Harry" played the fiddle for dances and partys. They lived in Springfield (or close by), Illinois until Henry bought land somewhere in Steele County, N. Dakota. Henry and Anna moved back to Illinois, and sent their oldest son, Thomas Vincent (T.V.) Devlin, and his wife Elizabeth Keirs (sp?) to take over the land. Thomas was followed to N. Dakota sometime later by his brothers James, William, Neil, and his sister Laura. I can give you more details if you'd like, but I think the proof is that either in the Hope Museum or the Steele County Museum in North Dakota is a Devlin family photograph, that has my Great-great grandfather Henry, and his father and mother, Francis and Elizabeth (McLaughlin.) Look forward to hearing from you. I can give you more detailed info on the later Devlins and the ones still living in North Dakota and abroad. BKD
