I have some good news but also have some bad news.
First the good news is that I found a Sarah Jane Devlin in the 1871 Ontario Census of the right age. Here is a transcription of what I found.
Name Age Birthplace Religion Origin
Devlin,Joseph 27 Ontario C of E Irish
,Susan 23 Ontario C of E Irish
,Joseph 7 Ontario C of E Irish
,Sarah Jane 4 Ontario C of E Irish
,Thomas 2 Ontario C of E Irish
They were tenants in a house and had a barn
at Concession 11 Lot 18 of Brooke Twp.,Lambton Co. The property was owned by a
William & Jamima Novris
I tried to find them in that township in 1881 but they were there although I found the William & Jamima Novris again.
Also I was unable to find Samuel & Margaret Clark in the 1861-1881 Census in the Lambton County area of Ontario.
I still think that both John King, yourself & Rebakab Brown are working on the same line.
It is case of finding out some further facts.
Like where did George Clark die & where buried. Or why did she marry Byron Ingalls and what is the date of that marriage & what are the names of the children of that marriage. According to the SSDI which I searched for Ingalls in Michigan;I was able to find 15 names that died in the Charlevoix,
Emmet, Antrim & Cheboygan counties of the Upper Michigan area as well as other area of Michigan.
What made me think that something was wrong with it being the Sarah Jane Devlin that Megan & I are working on is that she would have been 28 in 1882 not 17. Also the paper that John Devlin got July 3,1896 our Sarah Jane Devlin Clark was living in Springfield Township, Lucas County, Ohio.
Maybe somewhere in Ireland we were related but unable to find those facts to prove it.
As Megan has mentioned all of the Devlin families that we have located were of the
METHODIST faith.
So I would suggest that you, John King, grandson of Thomas Ignalls and Rebakab Brown should work together to see if you can
find the answers that you need.
