I read your messages with interest. My ancestor William Devlin (1796-1890) emigrated to Lanark Co., south of Ottawa in 1820-22, along with 4 brothers, following their older brothers John and Charles who emigrated in 1818. Some years later the parents, Charles Devlin and Eleanor (Ellen) Mulloney also emigrated. They left from Castlebar, Co. Mayo, but were most likely originally from Northern Ireland. The 2 older brothers were Church of Ireland, the rest Catholic, at least per census records. I have a fairly complete tree from these people forward. Could well be some linkage?
