Kathleen, you are welcome, I am happy if I can help. I am sorry to hear that some relatives have decided to end their communication with you. Usually, the more we work together, the more we discover.

I assume you tested Relative Finder with 23ANDme. I have tested Y-DNA with Family Tree DNA, and I recently got my Devlin cousin to participate. Since there wasn't a Devlin DNA surname group within Family Tree DNA yet, I started one. There are 20 Devlins in the Family Tree DNA project, spread amongst different groups, and 7 of them have joined my new Devlin group, as well. I have been inviting them all to join. I am also looking to attract new Devlin researchers to participate in the DNA testing, and join our group. I am guessing that you have male Devlin cousins that would be good candidates for a 37 marker Y-DNA test. This test will probably be on-sale in July at Family Tree DNA for around $120.00US.

I have had great finds on ScotlandsPeople, so, if you decide to go that route, I wish you luck. Scottish death records include the spouse's name and the parent's names, and since Francis' spouse was still alive when he died, she should have be a good informant.
