thanks very much for your reply - it looks interesing - one of the family had a nephew called william smith who was the witness on the death certificate - perhaps the son of a sister ? There is also family folklore about Honest John Devlin who was involved in a ships mutiny. If I find anything else out I'll let you know. Thanka gain its been very helpful.
