Devlin Family Genealogy Forum

Hi,
My Devlin ancestors also came from Donegal. My great-great-grandfather was named Daniel Devlin (a tailor) who was b. in Co. Donegal about 1803 and whose family emigrated to the US in 1836. The reason I'm replying is that the names Daniel and John run not only through this family tree but at least one other that I may be related to as well. Two of my g-g-gf Daniel's children were named Daniel and John, and my g-gf named two of his children Daniel and John. The prime place for Devlins in Donegal seems to have been Clonmany parish in the northern part of the Inishowen peninsula (northernmost point of Ireland) and adjacent areas like Moville and the town of Buncrana. There's a Clonmany genealogy page on the internet, and Daniel Devlin from New Hampshire has a website with alot of Devlin information in it, including stuff he's gleaned from parish records. The names you mention don't ring any bells for me, but the names surely suggest a pattern in that area. Good luck with this.
