I am looking for information on my father, John James Devlin. He emigrated to Canada from Motherwell, Scotland in around mid 1950's. He married my mother Evelyn Mary Hutton in 1955 and had 1 son (me)in November 1956. My father left my mother in 1957 and took up residence in Chicago Heights, IL. He applied for citizenship and became an American Citizen around 1958, I believe. My father kept contact with me until I was three and then I was told he started another family in the states. My father died on May 3, 1973. I need information about him in order to obtain his death certificate. All this information was sent to my mother in 1973 but was lost in various moves. At this point I cannot obtain a death certificate because I don't know where he died. All his S.S.A. files were destroyed around 1980. My father was born on April 14, 1925 and went by the name James J. Devlin. My fathers mother was Margaret Douglas.
I would appreciate any and all information anyone could provide.
