My Devlin family included two generations of brothers among whom the names William, Joseph, and Eleanor occurred. The family started out in the Toronto area in the late 1820's, but spread out from there--I am still tracking down the descendants of a couple of John Devlins as well as a Joseph (b. 1848) and a Hugh. My group ended up in Michigan, so it wouldn't surprise me if another ended up in upstate New York, or stopped in Quebec. However--and this is always my key filter question--they were Wesleyan Methodists, not Catholics. If your Devlins are Protestant, we should compare notes. Otherwise, good luck.
