John Devlin 1826 in N. Ireland

My great grand father was John Devlin born in 1826 in N. Ireland.
After his mother's death, he was adopted by Den Dawson and Margaret
Barns or Barnes. His name was then John Dawson, and they lived
in Levis, Quebec, Canada. His wife was Philomene Girard.
Can someone help me find more about him? Thanks.
