Devlins from Ireland to England in famine
Posted by: William Duke (ID *****9505) Date: August 11, 2004 at 16:08:47

My greatgrandfather, Bernard Devlin was married to Margaret Bibbi (sp) while he was in Ashton under Lynn, Lancashire, England circa 1858. They subsequently immigrated to the US where he served in the NJ 33rd Volunteer Regiment in the Civil War, had two sons, Edward and Albert and settled in Jersey city, NJ. I'm trying to determine from what county in Ireland his family resided before leaving for the UK during the famine. Also, is there a county in Ireland where most of the Devlin clan originated? Any help or guidance would be appreciated. All the best, Bill Duke
