I came across your post about locating the family of a "Patrick Devitt" who lived in the Fargo, ND area.

My name is Bonnie( Devitt) Ranum and I am sitting here right now looking at a picture of Patrick Devitt from the Fargo area. I live 55 miles West of Fargo and have an extensive genealogy record of the decedents of James Devitt and Bridget Moran from Knockmore Church in Back's parish south of Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland. They had a son born January 24, 1841. He was 6 years old when he sailed for America on a ship called the "Norman". I have a copy of the ships listing of passengers. They entered at New York, and by 1853 had come to Minnesota.

James became a citizen of the U.S. in Cass County in 1881. Fargo is in Cass County. I also have an excellent photo of Patrick Devitt, son of James and Bridget Devitt. He was the only known relative to serve in the Civil War. He was among the first settlers in Cass County. He was the first road supervisor and treasurer of the first school board.

There is much more info on him in my family genealogy booklet written by my cousin. If you have any interest in this, please email me and I can share what I have with you.

Bonnie Ranum
