hello everyone! my name is joseph devitt. i am going to ireland this winter and am wondering where our name came from. my fathers name was joseph devitt and he died a few years back. he told me that our last name used to be mcdevitt but the mc got dropped when they moved from ireland. since he told great stories, i was just wondering if this was true and if anyone knew where i could go to research some family history. thanks everyone!!!
