John Devitt b.1890 appr. of County Clare married Anna Clarke of County Cavan, my grandfather John Devitt fought in WWI for the U.S. He and Anna had 6 children born in Chicago, Illinois. Jack, Mary (mcKevitt) Loretta (Fischer) James (my dad) Theresa (Lanphier) Nancy (Martin) There were over 35 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Query? What is the origin of the name Devitt? It is not the most common of Irish names. I was once told it was Norman. Any ideas? Denise Devitt, J.D.
