DEVINE, Michael 1864 Ireland

I am inquiring about the possibility of the name DeVine being a derivative of DeVinney. According to our family when my g-grandfather came to the US his name was pronounced differently than it is today. So I was wondering if maybe DeVinney might have been the original spelling and pronunciation. If anyone can assist me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
MICHAEL DEVINE (b)1864 Ireland (d) 1935 Covington, KY
Thank you.
Teresa
