Thank-you, Char,
I am looking for my great-grandfather's family. His name was Thomas Devine. He was born about 1845-1847. He immigrated from Ireland. I employed someone to look him up and they found this same Phillip Devine with a son named Thomas. I am hoping this is our family. My Thomas farmed in Clinton County, Iowa during the late 1800's and passed in Charter Oak, Iowa in 1907. We have been able to trace him back in the Iowa census to the 1880's, we have no info previous to that census. I have been trying to find out his parent's and siblings names and where they came from in Ireland. All the personal records that I have of Thomas(marriage, death) state only that his parents were born in Ireland - no names of either parent. The only other fact that I have on him prior to his marriage, is that he immigrated to the U.S. in or around 1863 when he was approx. 16 years old.
I appreciate the time that you have already taken in this research. If you have any further information or advice on what I should do - I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks again,
Sue
