I am very interested in the Devines in Susquehanna Co, PA.Sarah Devine married Thomas James and had a daughter Mary Ann James.Mary Ann married A Judson Hay of Auburn Twp., Susquehanna Co.Judson is the youngest son of Peter and Susannah Hay.Judson's brother James married Arvilla Dunmore and one of their daughters was Elena (Lena) Hay, my great grandmother.
Lena's son Lawrence (my grandfather)claimed to be of Scotch-Irish heritage. As we're going to Ireland in August, I thought it would be fun to see where the family was from.I'm back to the late 1700's and they're all still in PA, NY and NJ!!I saw the faintest glimmer of hope in some of the threads of your post that Devine could be an Irish name, with lots of Devines in County Mayo.Any additional information you could provide about Susquehanna Co and the Devines, Hays, or Dunmores would be most appreciated. Please email me at [email protected]
Thanks!
