I'm looking for information about a Thomas Devin in connection with my research on a Thomas Crawford who died in 1844 in Wapello County, Iowa; Crawford has the first probate record in that county. The probate record shows that Thomas Crawford had given three promissory notes, one to Thomas Devin, of Pittsburg, dated March 3, 1842. I believe Thomas Crawford was probably born about 1780 (in VA, PA, or KY), about 1805/1810 went to Indiana, and then about 1838 went to Iowa Territory. I suspect that there was a family connection between this Thomas Devin & Thomas Crawford.
