Thank you for the information on the book. I have never been to an LDS library; but, will try to get there. (I have only had e-mail since Sept and have been searching genforum since then: bear with me.)
I have Samuel McDowell DEVEREAUX, the Senator m Anna LLOYD 16 Jan 1820 Hancock Co GA. He would have been 47; you're thinking this was a second marriage? Since his mom Elizabeth 1783 Columbia Co GA and his dad died there 1805, perhaps it's Columbia Co we need to be searching: land divisions, etc.
Are there any biographical sources for the Senator? Newspaper obit on his first wife (the Indian) who must have been dead before his marriage to LLOYD (1820 Hancock Co GA)? My Elizabeth was 6 years older than him; and, she was married 1784--the year after her mother died (probably, Columbia Co GA)at 17 yrs of age leaving her dad with a house full of boys and the one four year old daughter Nancy.
