I am seeking information on the surname Devereaux from New Orleans, LA. Family legend states that our ancestor, Charles J. Devereaux, b. 20 March 1821, was born in New Orleans, LA. His family may have been Huguenots. Charles J. Devereaux moved from New Orleans, LA to Boston, MA ca. 1845-50. He married Lucy M. Best, daughter of Thomas H. and Ellen B. Best of Boston, MA ca. 1860. They lived in Arlington, MA where he died in 1921. Any information on possible DEVEREAUX/NEW ORLEANS,LA connection would be greatly appreciated.
