Dear Kristin:
My grandfather was James Joseph Dever, born in Phila. sometime between 1890-1900, and he died in Lady of Lourdes Hospital in the early 1970s. I understand that his father and perhaps his grandfather as well were named James Joseph Dever. My grandmother was Elizabeth O'Donnell. My grandfather had two sisters, Anna and Jenny or Jane, who lived near a prison in Phila. in the late 1960's. I think there were other brothers/sisters as well. My father, also JJ, was born in Westmont, NJ, on 10/6/21, and his brother, Charles Hugh, was two or three years younger. I had always heard that the family were from County Donegal, but I don't have any concrete information on that. My grandparents are buried in New Cathedral Cemetery in Phila.
