When I posted the message yesterday I may have got it wrong - E-mail left out.
I'll try again as I'd like a reply!

My great Grandfather's Father was Patrick Dever, from Donegal Ireland. They immigrated to Philadelphia in the 1800's and my Great Grandfather was born in Philadelphia, the family lived in Manyunk and he went to the Manyunk Parish School (Elementary Education).Catholic.
Patrick's nick name was 'Red Paddy'. Patrick's wife was Mary Dougherty. I believe from my Grandfather and Great Uncle that there was another son James, maybe more siblings I'm not certain. My great Uncle John always said that there was a son James as well as Daniel(My G.Grandfather). Daniel's parents died when he was young he was brought up by an Aunt who was a Mother Superior in the Catholic Church in Philadelphia. They had a very strong link with the Catholic Church as several female members were Nuns. Daniel was born in Philadelphia on 11/11/1868. He immigrated to Australia in 1901 was a Seaman on the S.S. Sierra. He Married Mary Dickie Spalding in Sydney Australia on 21/3/1901 - She residing in Sydney with her family, Scottish and a Presbyterian. The Catholic family in the States did not like this union and cut him off - therefore cutting ties with all his remaining family. Sad hey! Daniel had four children in Australia - Thomas Alison, Joseph, Margaret and John James. My Grandfather was Thomas. My Great Uncle John is the only remaining child left living from Daniels children. He is about 84 years old. We have often wondered what happened to all our family in the United States and it would be great to find some more pieces to the puzzle Great Grandfather left us. I have been to Philadelphia and to Manyunk around where they lived. The only member of my entire family to do so. I don't know if this will help any other Dever's with the search. Good luck!
