Am not sure if this a direct connection, but
the following circumstantial evidence suggests a link to Col. Hedgman Butler DEVERS

In October 1814, the will of Jacob JOHNSON probated in Scott Co., KY mentions seven DEVER grandchildren as beneficiaries of "one childs part". Transcription of the will as provided by the county archives has several "holes" in the text, however, it is clear that Jacob had a grandson named Hedgman DEVER and a grandchild named W____. It is possible that "W" is William, being the same William who was father of the Col., naming his son in honor of his brother.

As an aside a "Hedgeman DEVERS" was enumerated in the 1830 Census of Scott Co., KY (page 181). But beyond this, I currently know nothing more of this family
