Hi Mark:

Ann Hanley's research says Devers is correct. We have been unable to confirm or deny this. As you know, Ellen Engelhardt is a great great granddaughter of the woman in question, and a great granddaughter of Mary Ann O'Donnell Kehoe.

Regards,

Hello,
I am researching the Devers (Dever) family of Co. Donegal. Particularly, I'm looking for information about Francis Devers, born in 1840 in Co. Donegal. He emigrated in 1868 and lived in Mauch Chunk. He married Mary Sweeney of Beaver Meadows, Carbon Co. in 1870 or 71. His best man was Andrew Dever. Possible siblings: Con, Hugh, Michael, Mary A., Margaret, & John. Francis and Mary moved to Allentown and had 10 children: James, Edward E.,
Neil J., William F., Owen J., Mary, Margaret A., Catherine, Francis X., and John. Francis died 5-28-1902. I'm curious about whether or not any of the Devers was involved with the Mollies.
I now live in Jim Thorpe. If anyone has any information or ideas I'd be truly grateful. Also, if I can be of help to anyone looking for information in Jim Thorpe, please e-mail me at PA18229@aol.com. Good luck to all and thanks.

Colleen:

The name you are looking for may be Divers. There is quite a few of them in Gweedore -- next to the Rosses. (Co Donegal) Check Griffiths Valuation for the year 1857 or the Tithe Applotment Books of 1824-31 and look for Diver, Divers, Devers for the parishes of Templecrone(the Rosses) and Tullabegley(Gweedore). If you do not have access to these lists E mail me

Coleen: Just a note to express my interest. I just went "on-line" and frankly, this is the first site I have delved into with interest. Wish I could help with your search. My grandmother Margaret Daugherty Kane was from Maugh Chunk, but I know little of her history. Good luck! Pat Ritter
