Loretta...

In my recently published "Devoe-deVaux Family History 1691-1991" I have the following: Claud-Jacques Devau dit Jolicoeur
m. at La Prarie in 1717; Claude-Pierre Deveau dit Jolicoeur m. at Repentigney in 1730. There are others without that dit name as well.

My history involves the Acadian family, thus I did not extensively search for this French, but non-Acadian (in my judgement) Family. The earliest appearance I found of this non-Acadian family was of an Antoine DeVaux, age 34, in the 1667 census at Cote Saint-Ignace.

Any help to you? Regards, John
