I originally posted this as a reply to someone's request from 2001, but then decided to add it here as well, as it might be of interest to others.
My husband is a descendant of Ashbel Devault's brother, Edgar Jackson Devault. We have the following information on Ashbel's marriages and children. Eliza was Ashbel's second wife. Her maiden name was Clopper. Her first husband was Philip P. Howell. I don't have any other information on him.
