Hi Gary,
I believe that William O'Brian DeVault was the son of Daniel and Mary Ann (Roller) DeVault. However, this Daniel was not the son of Phillip DeVault/Dewald. Some time back the descendants of Daniel and Mary Ann (Roller) DeVault mistakenly attached their genealogy to Phillip DeWald, son of Henry Dewald of Pennsylvania. (I am a descendant of Henry Dewald of Pennsylvania.) The probable cause of this mixup was that Phillip had a son named Daniel DeWald that married Mary Miller. To add to the confusion both families had a son named James Miller DeVault/DeWald. Unfortunately this erroneous genealogy got widely distributed before the error was pointed out. In any case, your Daniel DeVault that married Mary Ann Roller was the son of Jacob and Barbara (Weidner) DeVault.
