Death chamber at Kilby prison at 12:30 am - announced dead at 12:43
took 3 shocks to stop the heart although he was unconscious after the first
He had murdered A. B. Moore and Mrs. Ruby Thornton in Jefferson County
three negro ministers came - singing hymns - prayed on his knees for
forgiveness and salvation
Left two letters ( published in this article) to his mother and his sister
Ollie

Another article - Prison Engineer resigns his post
Objects to being present at electrocutions - was not present today

(Believe Mr. DeVaughn was the first to be executed in Alabama by electrocution.)
