The John you referred to and his wife, Ruth, did have a son, Jonathan as well aa a son Samuel and daughters Nancy and Susannah. Jonathan was mentioned as a son in lease agreement that John made with Lord Fitzhugh in 1784 for land in the Ravensworth Plantation. I have wondered if he is the same Jonathan but need to check out the Alexandria GAZETTE for coverage of the event. So far have not directly connected him to my DeVaughns.
