Hi Patricia,

I have been reading your posts about Cornelius Devaney and I
thought it is worth posting a response. I am a descendant of Owen Devaney (b. 1801)and Mary Walsh, who came from County Mayo. Owen and Mary had a son, Owen, who changed his
name to Cornelius in later life. He died in NY in 1886 at the age of 40. Owen & Mary also had children named Bridget, Ann, James, William, Nial and Mary. This branch of the Devaney family emigrated to England at the height of the famine, and their descendants later emigrated to the US around 1880. Let me know if you think there may be a connection.

I haven't been able to determine where my Devaneys came from in Mayo, and my search has taken on a sense of urgency, as I
plan to visit Mayo toward the end of May.

Many thanks.
