Hi Susan,

I am a descendant of a Devany family that settled in Preston, England around 1850. Recently, my research has led me back to County Mayo. My GGGfather was Owen Devany and his wife was Mary. They were born around 1800 - 1810. Their children were Bridget (b. 1833) m. Michael Neary, Ann (my GGGM) (b. 1835), James (b. 1837) m. Mary Higgins (b. 1842), William (b. 1839), and Nial, Owen and Mary, who were born in England. I can't seem to make this fit yet, but I did find an Owen Devany listed in Griffith's who lived
in Stonehall, Ballynahagnish, so I think there may be a connection. We may be cousins.

Pat
